Most Puncture-Resistant Leather Types
Goat Grain Leather
Best all-around choice for lightweight gloves.
It also has a high tensile strength, meaning it resists tears and punctures better than most materials.
Has great flexibility and softness, so you don't have to sacrifice comfort for protection.
Cowhide
Tough and durable, often used for heavier-duty gloves.
Split Cowhide (inner layer) is thicker and more abrasion resistant, but also harder.
Grain Cowhide (outer layer) is more flexible and still has good puncture resistance.
Deerskin
Extremely soft and flexible, very comfortable and flexible, but with poor puncture resistance.
Better for light duty tasks where comfort is more important than protection.
Pig Leather
Very breathable and durable, even when wet.
While not as puncture resistant as goat or cow leather, it's still a good choice for general use.
